Announcement: Use Edmodo and Take the 1st Quiz

Special Announcement for my student,

I decided to use Edmodo, especially for posting quizzes and assignments. This Edmodo can also be installed in Android.
Check out Edmodo at:
https://www.edmodo.com

In order for you to join my class, you have to have my group code (my group code for physics class grade X 2015-2016 is ie5mfn).
Make sure you write your real name (full name is better) and class so that I can recognize you and use your grade. I post 1 quiz already, with due date of 2 November 2015.

Ok, try it out.

Astronomy: Stars & Galaxies PPT file

Hi,

for you who like astronomy (usually those who like astronomy, they like to see beauty in the sky and they do have beautiful hearts :-) ),

I uploaded ppt file about stars and galaxies. This file was used to teach astronomy olympiad class in 2014. So, check it out:

Hope you like it.

About Edmodo: Classroom in It?

Hi all,

I just know last night that there is a platform for education where teacher, students, and parents can join together. This platform is called Edmodo. Thankfully, it works like facebook (something that most of us know already). If only I know it before I made this blog, then I would use it instead of this. But it's okay la....

So, without further ado, I joined Edmodo last night, chose option as a teacher and completed my profile. Well, as much as I appreciate Edmodo, I am still new to this. Therefore, I have to try it first and when I am ready, I will launch it to my students.
So, if you are my student, please wait for more information from me. If Edmodo is okay, then I will put quizzes, assignments, and notes over there.  I will give the key to you.

If....it works out well for us (you and me as student and teacher), then you can study whenever and wherever you like. So, if (again) there is "Libur Asap", you can still study and do some exercises. heheh...

If you ask me, "how do I use it?" I think, you are more capable than me in this area. I will leave it to you to try it out and explore it to your heart's content.

But, how about this blog? Well, I still can use it to pour some words out of my mind (if I have time to write it down and with connected internet).

Experience Using Scribd to Upload Documents

A bit of story,

I had uploaded several physics notes and exercises through scribd today. Quite a work to do.

It is sometimes annoying when you see the results of the uploaded files. Prior to uploading the files, I had changed the files from ms. word to became .pdf or .xls. I thought that by using those two types, my uploaded files in Scribd will look like the files in the original form (without any changing layout or disordered diagram). Guess what? Those uploaded files had some disorganized paragraphs, changed diagram and pictures. I tried several times to change the files (using many options available) from word into .pdf and .xls and embedded the fonts and many little things but it didn't work well.

Just when I said, "I just tried for the last time. If it doesn't work out, then let it be.", I used the print option to print the files into .xls then I uploaded that latest revision into Scribd, and....it worked!

Well, this time I did learn something about options in word. I didn't really know the difference between changing file types using "save as", "print" and "export" in word (we can still use it in computer and get the same results), but today at least I know that if I want to upload the files into Scribd, I should use "print as" option in word, and change the file into .xls. I think this is the most stable format and it preserves all the original layout and diagrams.

Finally, I can see that the files are in good format and easy to read.
The moral? Don't give up, coz' maybe your last attempt work out well.

Physics Chapter 3: Linear Motion Summary, Practical (To Do at Home)

Hi to my student,

Post: Saturday, 24th October 2015
Here is the link for summary of Physics Grade X Chapter 3, Linear Motion:
https://www.scribd.com/doc/286770497/Summary-of-Linear-Motion

I might update this post later with exercise and may be other stuff. So stay tuned.

Post: Monday, 25th October 2015
I gave you assignment, that is doing a simple experiment at home (or wherever you like to do it). This experiment should be completed and submitted by 29th November 2015 (Sunday). Follow the procedure, fill in the tables, answer the question in the result section, and write down your conclusion.

Type your answer and send it to me by email to : devilim@ski.sch.id.
Remember: deadline for submission is 29th November 2015. If you're late (as in the date in the email), then there will be point penalty (late for 1 day = -5 penalty). To avoid problem of internet connection, make sure you send it before the deadline (you have 1 month period to complete an experiment).
Here is the link:

Just enjoy the experiment and be benefited by it. (If you know your reaction time, I hope you will be more alert when you drive or ride motorcycle).

Physics Chapter 2: Vector, Quizzes, Worksheet, Geogebra.

Hi again,

Here are notes and some exercises about Physics Grade X Chapter 2: Vectors.
There are presentation file I used to teach (it is basically just key points but with some quizzes and questions to think and solve) and worksheet that I've given to students as exercise. Check it out.
1. https://www.scribd.com/doc/286766783/Vectors-Notes-Exercise
2. https://www.scribd.com/doc/286766942/WS-vector-1

You can also download Geogebra (software that I used to draw and manipulate vectors in classroom). through this link:
https://www.geogebra.org/download
It is free. I just opened the web and found that they already made the program available in Android (still beta version though) so we can learn about vectors anywhere. This program is also useful in learning about math functions (and another math topics related to drawing or graphing in coordinate system).

Happy learning vector!

Physics X Ch. 1: Links to Notes, Exercise, Vernier Calipers & Micrometer

Hi (especially for my Grade X students),

Here I give you link in Scribd to open and download Chapter 1 note, about Instruments and Measurement (in case you've lost your hard copy).
https://www.scribd.com/doc/286758266/Instruments-and-Measurement

Besides that, I also give link for you to open or download the exercise I've given to you before quizzes. This is the link:
https://www.scribd.com/doc/286760638/Physics-X-Chapter-1-Exercise
You can review and try to do it again at home.

Below are also links for you to download vernier calipers and micrometer applets. The website itself has so many useful things for studying physics. By the way, you have to register first before you do the downloading.
1. vernier calipers : http://www.phy.ntnu.edu.tw/ntnujava/index.php?topic=567.msg1940#msg1940
2. micrometer : http://www.phy.ntnu.edu.tw/ntnujava/index.php?topic=502.0
Credit to www.phy.ntnu.edu.tw (Thanks to them for providing helpful physics applets).

Hope you enjoy it.

Intro: Reasons for the Birth of This Blog

Hi,

This is the first posting of all (hopefully).

At first, I think about helping my student when I created this. Some of them asked me to give them materials that I used to teach in class. I don't really want to give them because the materials are just points, not concepts, and mainly because they already has a very good book in their hands. Despite that, I will give them some materials through this blog. They can take some of my notes without having to infect my computer.

At second thought, I think this blog has a possibility to become more than just sharing materials of teaching (and of course, some announcements and bits of teaching-related stuff). Sometimes I just need to let go of many words from my brain. Writing, in many times, can be stressing me out, but sometimes, like this time, it is just relaxing. So... this could a channel for me to get words out of my mind. Well, it is still a possibility because it all depends on my laziness level, internet connection, and time taken to do other things.

Finally, I hope all of us (who read and who write) would enjoy this blog and be benefited.
